List of families

List of families is shown on choosing the corresponding item in the main menu "View".

It also is called to display the result of a search and to display families of a person (the "Families..." button in the List of relatives).

Families are shown in the List in the following format:
N) I.I.Husband_surname + I.I.Wife_surname (children first names' list),
where N is consecutive number; I.I. are initials.

In upper part of the window there is:
Quick search field. Type the first letters of a surname in this field and the family with that husband or wife (depending on sorting) will be immediately selected in the list.
Sorting dropdown list sorts the List by husbands' or wives' surnames. The format how families are displayed in the List remains the same - husbands are shown first.

Double click on a line in the List selects the family (its members) in the tree and if only part of the family is visible in the window, moves the tree and, if necessary, reduces the scale so that the selected family will be shown completely and in the middle. If the Information Window has been opened by that moment, it will show the family info as well.

On the lower panel:

The "Select:" button works cooperatively with the dropdown list "this family - with ancestors - with descendants" and with the "with spouses" switch.
"this family" selects only the chosen family and shows its info - the same way, as double click by the mouse on the list;
"with descendants" selects the chosen family and all its descendants;
"with ancestors" selects the chosen family and all its ancestors.
If the checkbox "with spouses" is checked, spouses of the families members are selected as well.
The button "Members..." shows all members of the selected family in the List of persons. In such a case the first in the list is the husband (father), the second is the wife (mother), and then children.
Button "Info" shows the family information in the Information Window.
Button "Edit" shows the family in the Record Editor.
Button "Delete" removes the family, warning about the removing in advance. The members of the family are not removed.

The switch "Always on top": if it is checked, the List of families will always remain atop of other windows.
