Pedigree Window This window shows the pedigree of a particular person, ancestors and descendants, as well as spouses and siblings. The "main" person is emphasized with pink background:
Radio buttons VERT and HOR switch between two types of pedigree layout - vertical and horizontal:
The dropdown lists Descendants and Ancestors allow the user to set the number of generations to show: from 0 to 6 and "All". If some ancestors and descendants frames have arrows beside (like Gillian CLARK or Elliott RUSSELL in the example) it means these persons have other ancestors or descendants. These can be shown if the user increases the number of generations to show. On each new creating or changing of the pediree the "main" person will be placed possibly in the center of the window. «+», «-», «1:1» and «Fit» buttons allow user to adjust the scale of the picture. Buttons «<» and «>» are used to navigate through the "history" of pedigrees displayed - like the Back and Forward buttons in Internet Explorer browser. A click with the right mouse button on a person's frame shows a dropdown menu with these three items: Pedigree - shows the pedigree of the clicked person in the same window. (You can return to the previous pedigree by pressing on the «<» button.) Common children - this item is enabled only when clicking on a spouse of the "main" relative and highlights the spouse, their common children and their descendants with red color:
Edit opens the selected person for editing in the Editor. And finally, the Save button saves the pedigree in a file. The pedigree is switched to the vertical layout. It can be stored including all spouses, or one selected spouse, and siblings:
For example, we saved the following pedigree with one spouse (Heather ROBERTS) and with siblings. When we open the resulting file (E.WILSON_pedigree.rel) we will see the following:
After some manual adjustment we will get a pedigree which can either be printed out or converted into an image to place on the Internet:
The Magnifier works for the Pedigree window the same way as for the main window. See also: |
